Show keyboard viewer
If you're learning the U.S. keyboard layout, which is beneficial for programming (your wrists will thank you later), it can be difficult to recall the key locations. Here is a helpful tip: From the macOS menu bar, press the keyboard icon and select Show Keyboard Viewer.
This will display the chosen keyboard layout in a pop-up window. I found this to be helpful when I was getting accustomed to a new keyboard configuration.
